The average knowledge about this group: Merry are a quirky Japanese rock band which has been around since October of 2001, when vocalist Gara and guitarist Yuu put their heads together and decided to form the group - though both changed their minds a couple times about forming a band, things went rather smoothly from then - Yuu brought along Kenichi(guitar) and Nero (drummer), and Gara had Tetsu (bassist) join in (Gara & Nero were together in a former project - the rest got to know eachother mainly through going to one anothers' band's lives), and Merry went on to swiftly join the most celebrated bands of the indies angura/eroguro kei and j-rock scene, probably given a bit of a headstart due to a couple familiar sounding group names that the members used to be in. In March 2005, Nero announced that they will go major, leaving their little Gekiyaku("Poison") Records label behind to sign on to Victor Entertainment, a major company that takes care of hundreds of artists(including cali=gari, Guniw Tools, and BUCK-TICK), and causing a huge uproar among the fans. It would be hard to imagine a bunch like Merry coming together and not have their different past music styles clash. But these guys have managed it, and they managed it amazingly well.
Quick note on their title: The band's name is written in katakana characters, so メリー ('me-ri-i'). Technically, this is romanized to 'merii', but officially it seems to be written 'Merry', as you can see on the more recent of their products or merchandise, and in the official website's title (merrymate.jp). It's likely that you'll also see 'meri'. You can choose what you want to call them. How on earth they came up with "merry" is a common wondering among the fans [i'm trying to look into this now] but noone seems to have come up with an explanation?
The sounds they make: Their music has an extraordinary and often swingy twist to it, always written very cleverly, giving all merry's songs a specific and simple yet strong feel to them. Here you have to give a lot of the credit to the (usually lead)guitarist Yuu, as he's responsible for most of the song-writing; his songs are most of the jazzy/bluesy ones, but he's done a few that aren't within his usual range, such as 'Ve-doro'. Kenichi's the one to thank when it comes to those mostly squawky & energetic tracks (very catchy as well) that really get the crowd going during gigs. The band's general style has gradually changed over the years - it seems that back in the early days, listening to their little handful of eerie songs, they'd have had the intention to be a darker band with more mysterious and far fewer upbeat tunes - when the whole Gendai Stoic(album)-preview things came about, that was obviously prooved wrong. Nowadays alot of the songs are much more happy and easy to listen to. Vocalist Gara is responsible for writing the lyrics for the band - you can see his weirdness in his peculiar words. His writings are often very interesting read-throughs, even if you may not understand several songs at all. You can read about the different members' musical styles in the site's member section if you are interested - but here you just can't leave Nero unmentioned. He is practically the second frontman of the band, taking care of all the comments to the camera and speeches during lives. Not often does one find a band with a drummer that has as great a connection to the audience as Nero does. It's all the weirdness put together that makes this band so great to listen to. Warning, they ARE one of those bands which can easily be put in the wrong box if you don't know them very well, so for beginners - some of the most popular songs they've done include 'tasogare restaurant', 'mado', 'Tokyo Telephone', 'Japanese Modernist', 'T.O.P' and 'kuroi niji'; maybe a couple of those are good starters.
The look they have: Merry are very uniform when it comes to dress. Today you'll mostly find them all wearing similar styles of suits, sometimes military style outfits, but mostly dark, dull and formal clothing with a few stylish touches here and there. However they have been through their more intense visual styles in the past - common characteristics are the traditional intentionally overused messy black make-up, fun hair styles and 'grotesque' clothing (often traditional Japanese dress). Their strong character is developed not through a load of make up and complex frilly costumes, but through the members' natural charisma, personalities and of course their beautiful music.
One can only see a good future for merii. Having such fantastic music, so much originality and creativity, interesting personalities, and a unique frontman - surely they will just keep on heading upwards from here. Currently they are one of the most popular bands of their level in Japan and can boast reaching the top 10 of the indies Oricon(charts). Overseas among the handful of Japanese music fans, they don't really seem to have fully *bloomed* just yet, but it's just a question of time till that happens!

Avi Nissim and Lior Perlmuter first met at elementary school at the age of nine. Lior started working with synthesizers at the age of eleven and two years later teamed up with Yaniv Haviv under the name Paradox. Even earlier Avi had already started DJing and performing in heavy industrial bands around Israel. In 1989 Lior and Avi first teamed up. Avi was already a well-known DJ (playing Acid, Techno, New Bit etc.). They created their first group and named it SFX (short for sound effects). They started doing gigs in all underground clubs around Israel and made their first breakthrough in 1991 with their single Monster Mania that came out on the Belgian Company Music Man. They started working on an album and later that year while Yaniv was still serving at the Israeli army, they decided to try their luck at the big apple. After a short time Avi went back home to carry on developing his own music, while Lior stayed and worked in a sound studio, In 1992 , they released a single called JBIE under their own label X-Rave Records in the US. In 1993, while Lior was still in the USA, Avi teamed up with Yaniv and Guy Sebbag under the name SFX and they released a single called Another World under Trigger in Germany.At the beginning of 1994 Lior decided to come back home and work on his own material with the rest of SFX under their newly formed label Trust in Trance and they started working on their first CD - Trust in Trance Vol. 1.
At the same time they signed up with Phonokol and released the CD with great success. After that, Guy decided to leave the group to peruse his solo project. In 1995 the guys finally opened their own professional sound studio on a more commercial level. They became more exposed to the world market and started playing live shows in events around Europe, while working on their second album Trust in Trance vol. 2. This time Yaniv, Avi and Lior made the tracks under the name Astral Projection. Trust in Trance vol. 2 entered the Israeli best selling album chart and reached the number 2 position. Both albums became very popular over Europe and in Goa and were played by all the leading DJs. Both CDs were released as a double album by Smart Records in Scandinavia and many of the tracks were released on different singles and compilations world wide by different record companies/labels (among them: Fairway, BMG, Distance, TIP, Blue Room Released, Transient, Rumor, Perfecto Fluoro, Symbiosis, MCA, Euro Media, Vision Sound Carriers). The third Trust in Trance album contained already five tracks under the name Astral Projection (one featuring MFG). Trust in Trance vol. 3 was their major breakthrough into the European market, the album was reviewed by the leading UK music magazines as a masterpiece, and Astral Projection were crowned as the masters of psychedelic trance from Israel.
What followed was just a big success: Leading UK and world DJs kept Astral Projection constantly on their play list; A full computerized animation video was made for People Can Fly and was played on MTV Europe, Viva, MLM, Channel+, M6 and other TV stations over Europe; The guys played in over 30 live shows around the world in one year; The CD was released through TIP (as Astral Projection - Trust in Trance), one of the major trance labels. Then followed Astral Files, the first CD to be solely under the name Astral Projection. The CD contained new Astral Projection tracks (one, a collaboration with Dado (Transwave, Deedrah)) and remixes of 4 big hits. Astral Files was released also by the well-appreciated British label- Transient Records (which since then has been releasing all their albums, til they shut down last year). Again the album received great reviews and most tracks became huge party hits. Following that, Avex Records (Japan) released a CD called "The Mix", containing a mix by Avi to their best tracks. A lot of singles were included on countless compilations and under many labels in Europe, The US, Japan, Taiwan and others around the world. Astral Projection appeared on countless live shows in a lot of events and festivals all over the globe. In the end 1997 Astral Projection released Dancing Galaxy.
As Yaniv changed his direction in music and life he left the band and it was Avi and Lior by themselves again. The album took nine months of work in the studio (Just like a new child, as Avi says). Along with the CD an animated video clip was released for the first track Dancing Galaxy. The album was also released on different labels around the world: Transient, Avex (in Japan - where it was sold with a bonus CD), Blue Moon Production (Taiwan) and others. With the great success of Dancing Galaxy which is probably the most selling artist's trance CD ever, came a lot of shows around the world. Among the special ones were: A performance at the opening night of "The Israeli Season in France", with the participation of the French Culture Minister and VIP's from France and Israel; Performance as guests of the Israeli ambassador to Yugoslavia; Ibiza; Russia; Croatia; USA; and all over Europe.



During 1998 they also released SFX - The Unreleased Tracks 89-94 that contains all their early hits from those good old times. In the beginning of 1999 they released few tracks on A new Trust in Trance compilation - The Next Millennium, among them some new tracks and some remixes to old ones. In February 1999 Another World was released. It took more then ten months in the studio and contains a new remix to one of their first singles- Another World, after which it is called. It also contains a mix to the classic Trilithon's Trance Dance. They remixed Faithless's God is a DJ and the 2 mixes were released on Psychedelic Vibes 6 and on Israeli Psychedelic Trance vol. 4, and also on a remixes single to Faithless. In May 2000 they released a double mixed CD - In the Mix - with seven remixes to old tracks, by themselves and others, four new tracks, and the rest is all classics, basically "The best of..."- almost 160 minutes of a mixed musical journey with Astral Projection. Transient also released the unreleased tracks unmixed on vinyl.
To their new live act they were joined by one of the best Israeli drummers - Dani Makov (Siam, Nikmat Hatractor and more).
In 2002 they have released their featured album AMEN, which was considered a bit hit worldwide.



To celebrate 10 years of the Astral Projection madness they have released a special Compilation CD, named TEN, bearing 10 different Astral Projection remix's by respected artists such as John 00 Fleming, Deedrah, Space Cat, Delirious, Bizzare contact to name a few.
In November 2005 they will be releasing a brand new Compilation, compiled by Astral Projection, with the cooperation of Com.Pact rec. - V/A Back to Galaxy will be released in November 2005 and will include 10 previously unreleased dance floor hits.
Aside from being an active performing group and producers the team is currently hard at work on their next featured album.

В края на 60-те четиримата се събират, като първоначално името на групата им е Earth, но тъй като това име е вече заето от друха група, се прекръстват на Black Sabbath. 1970 издават първия си албум - Black Sabbath, с който започва хеви метъл епохата. Текстовете на песните са мрачни, занимават се с недопустими теми дотогава като наркотици, насилствена смърт, постапокалиптични картини, абе все приятни неща в днешно време.

Tony Iommy преди да сформира групата претърпява трудова злополука при която загубва върховете на два от пръстите на дясната си ръка, докторите му казали че трябва много да ги движи за да се оправят и той хванал китарата. за да може да не му се изплъзват пръстите, ги омотава с лепенки, изрязана пластмаса от бутилка и кожа. За да може по-лесно да свири намалява опънатостта на струните на китарата си, като тя минава от стандартната Е гама към С#, което придава по-тежкото "хеви" звучене.
До 1979 година Black Sabbath издават най-великите си албуми, станали емблематични за метъл музиката като цяло, след което Ozzy Osbourne бива уволнен и на негово място идва Ronnie James Dio, с който бива записан албума Heaven And Hell - ритъма е вече по-бърз, а и гласа на Dio е харизматичен, просто албума няма как да не е велик. през следващите години състава на групата се изменя често, музиканти идват и си отиват и новаторството и оригиналността на групата избледняват значително.
През 1997-98 оригиналните членове на групата се събират отново за концертното турне "Reunion", като това се повтаря и през '99-та и 2001-а, 2004-та и 2005-та. след 2001-ва има слухове за появата на нов албум, но така и нищо не се потвърждава. Ozzy Osbourne изразява страх, че новият албум няма да бъде сходен със старите албуми и така намалява надеждите че нещо ново ще излезне.

На 23 Юни 2005 Black Sabbath изнесоха концерт в оригинален състав на стадион Локомотив в София, с което сбъднаха мечтите на десетки хиляди техни верни фенове не само от България.

Ill Nino разтърсиха Nu-Metal света с дебютния си албум Revolution Revolucion. Групата успя да разчупи стандартната структура на стила чрез вливането на латино ритми. Самите членове на бандата я определят близо до Sepultura и Soulfly, но музиката им е по-леснодостъпна и мелодична. Дискографията им обаче е все още твърде бедна, за да бъдат определени като велики новатори в rock музиката.

Малко са групите, които стават все по-добри с всеки следмащ албум.
Няколко такива групи са Tool, Pantera, Disturbed. И сега вече , Ill Nino.
С новият си албум One Nation Underground, Ill Nino се изкачват още едно стъпало по-нагоре в развитието си с добър латино метъл звук.
Албумът Revolution/Revolucion, от 2001 съдържаше як метъл звук с латино рифове, трайбъл бийтове и тук-там испански текстове. В Confession от 2003 бе също заложено на същото, но също и на много добър по-мелодичен подход, който разкри разрастващия се потенциал на забележителния и разпознаващ се глас на фронтмена Christian Machado.
В One Nation Underground успешно е смесен звука от предните два албума, така, че публиката да може да получи най-доброто от тях
В този албум групата изоставя правилата и създава многопластов звук, на който публиката може да откликне.
Първите два албума започваха със силни първи парчета и тази тенденция е запазена и в One Nation Underground.
Албума започва с “This is War,” – китарна и барабанна атака, която кара слушащия да започне да повтаря песента преди още тя да е свършила. Хардкор нишката продължава и в песни като “My Resurrection,” “Turns to Gray” и “De Tu Vida.”
Темпото леко се забавя в по-мелодичните парчета като “All I Ask For,” “Everything is Beautiful” и поразителната “My
Pleasant Torture.”
По-сложните и бавни песни представляват огромна промяна в темпото, разкривайки всеобхватния талант на групата и предпазват албума от еднообразие. Групата успешно вмества тези песни в албума, като по този начин му придава свежест.
Други изпъкващи песни включващ албума са “La Liberacion of Our Awakening” и
“Corazon of Mine,” които със сигурност ще се превърнат във фаворити на публиката.
С арсенала си от страхотни парчета в новия си албум, това със сигурност е група, която не трябва да бъде пренебрегвана.

"Групата Sentenced е основана е Oulu, Финландия, през далечната 1989. Членовете, създали групата, са Miika Tenkula, Sami Lopakka и Vesa Ranta. По това време групата свири европейски дет метъл.

Първото им демо, озаглавено "When Death Joins Us…", вижда бял свят рано през следващата година. Скоро след записа на касетата, групата се сдобива с нов вокалист и басист на име Taneli Jarva. Не след дълго Sentenced подписват договор с малка звукозаписна компания от Франция, която издава дебютният им албум "Shadows of the Past" през 1991.

За следващото им издание, "North from here" (1993), момчетата сменят компанията си с доста по известния финландски лейбъл Spinefarm Records. Музиката им вече прави завой и потегля по пътя на по-техничния дет метъл, като по този начин допринася за налагането на нов мелодичен стил, познат днес като готенбургски. По-късно същата година Sentenced издават и MCD с името "The Trooper" (1993), което включва, вече станал класика кавър на хитовата песен на Iron Maiden от 1983 - "The Trooper". Това обаче се оказва последното им издание под знака на Spinefarm.

През 1994 Sentenced отново сменят звукозаписната компания. Този път правят сдекла, която се оказва много печеливша и за двете страни. Германската компания Century Media подписва с групата договор за световно разпространение и също така решава да преиздаде първите им два записа. Първото издание със Century Media - "Amok" (1994), определено се оказва истински пробив, с продадени над 35,000 копия в света. Sentenced за пореден път са решени да изследват нови територии и музиката им става по-мелодична и подтискаща с 9 невероятни песни, изтъкани от чиста емоционална депресия, но все така вярна на дет метъл корените си. Рано следващата година те издават втория си MCD озаглавен "Love & Death" (1995).

1996 - Sentenced са на абсолютния връх, но феновете са разочаровани да чуят, че вокалистът/басист Taneli Jarva напуска групата. Официалните причини за това са, че за Taneli успехът на Sentenced се оказва непоносимо бреме. Групата не губи време и веднага го замества с нов вокал, Ville Laihiala. Четвъртият им студиен албум "Down" бива снесен в Woodhouse Studios през есента на същата година. Прескачането от така почитания дълбок ръмжащ глас на Taneli Jarva до по-чистото пеене на Laihiala е опасна задача, но за пореден път Sentenced излизат победители. Албумът "Down" получава страхотни ревюта в музикалните списания по цял свят и дори е определен като албум на месеца в немските списания Rock Hard и Metal Hammer. През 1996 и годината след това, Sentenced са на световно успешен кръстоносен поход из Европа, Северна Америка и Япония.

През май 1998 Sentenced започват записването на наследника на "Down". Работата отново е с Waldemar Sorychta в студио Woodhouse, Германия. Издадения през 1998 година албум "Frozen" не се различава музикално от предшественика си, което в комбинация със суровостта и отчаяните текстове напомня за пореден успех за групата.

В зората на новото хилядолетие Sentenced пускат новия си шедьовър "Crimson". Изданието веднага се изстрелва до върховете на финландските класации. Албумът е продуциран от самата група и с помоща на продуцента на Theater Of Tragedy, Moonspell и HIM - Hiili Hiilesmaa. За пръв път групата свири на живо пред фенове от Северна Америка на New Jersey Metal Meltdown. Списанието Hit Parader описва Crimson като "вълнуващ, с добре изпълнена музика, предложена с голяма доза умения и искреност, рядко виждана в Скандинавския метъл." докато Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles признават на Sentenced създаването на "депресарска мелодичност и черковна атмосфера, подходяща за паплач от самоубийци…"

Започвайки и завършвайки с гарвани - птица дълго време асоциирана с неизбежната смърт - Кралете на самоубийството задълбават дълбоко в черния хаос на една древна емоция с всяка една песен от албума си "The Cold White Light" (2002), изследвайки вътрешната структура на смирението и саможертвата да живееш още един ден въпреки съблазънта на смъртта. "Everything Is Nothing" е безпомощният вопъл на смъртна душа, проклета с живот; интрото в началото на "No One There" лесно може да бъде взето за модернизирана версия на древна финландска мелодия, използвана при погребения.

В момента вече е планиран поредният албум на групата, но нищо конкретно не е казано. Със сигурност ще получим поредната доза депресираща атмосфера и апокалиптични послания.

За мене една от най добрите и интересни групи от power metal гилдията. Бързи рифове и много мелодични. Текстовете са им предимно фентъзи ориентирани.

Последния им голям проект с който вече ептем ме грабнаха се казва Эльфийская Рукопись което е рок/метъл опера. В самата опера като гост вокалисти се изявяват вокалите на групи като: Ария, Арида Вортех, Черний Обелиск, Мастер, Бони неМ,... като всеки влиза в ролята на някой от главните действащи лица в историята...
